What to Expect:
Tenjinbashi Shopping Street (天神橋筋商店街): Stroll down this bustling 2.6kilometer (1.6mi) shopping street, lined with local shops, traditional goods, and street food vendors. You’ll get a taste of authentic Osaka life as you sample local snacks, shop for souvenirs, and learn about the street’s origins in the Edo Period.

Since Tenjimbashi survived the bombings of World War II, you now have the opportunity to explore the charming, historic side of Osaka, along with its unique and unconventional flair.

Osaka Tenmangu Shrine (大阪天満宮): Visit this ancient shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. Take in the peaceful atmosphere and hear stories of the famous Tenjin Matsuri festival, one of Japan’s top three festivals.
